Our story

One family.
One trade.
Since 1977.

It started in 1977 with a red van, a storefront on Highway 50 in Centertown, and the family name over the door — B&W. Floors and furniture, back when a shop did both. Nearly fifty years later, two things haven’t changed: it’s still the Hintons, and we still set every floor ourselves. These days you’ll find us at the Lake of the Ozarks.

How it started

It began the way a lot of good Missouri businesses did: a family, a storefront on the highway, and a willingness to do the hard part themselves. Floors and furniture back then, with “and Sons” stitched on the shirts.

The shop has moved, the trucks have changed and the furniture side is long gone. The name came with us, and so did the way we work.

Mitch, back in the day

One name on the door

Mitch Hinton grew up in it and never left the trade. His parents were doing work at Tan-Tar-A back in the early eighties — and B&W still works out there today.

In 2005 he picked up the Home Depot installation contract for the Lake of the Ozarks. Twenty years on, we’re still the crew Home Depot sends. The mustache has come and gone; the standards haven’t.

Same name, same standards

Mitch still owns B&W. Cara runs it day to day — part of the Hinton family, and the one you’ll actually deal with. She answers the phone, comes out to measure, helps you choose tile, color and layout, orders your material and keeps the schedule moving.

And on install day it’s our own crew on your floor — people who’ve done it ten thousand times, not strangers we’ve never met. No subcontractors, and a one-year installation warranty behind the work.
